Lingerie for Men: A Guide for Every Body
Lingerie has never belonged to one gender. For centuries, men wore lace, silk and embroidery as symbols of status, sensuality and self. What we now call "lingerie for men" is not a novelty — it is a return. At FOD (Full of Desire), we offer gender-inclusive lingerie that defies the binary. Sourced in Europe and handmade in Vienna, our pieces are engineered to fit, support, and celebrate the body wearing them — strings, bras, bodysuits, harnesses and clubwear, cut for bodies the lingerie industry has ignored for too long.
This guide covers everything you need to know: why men wear lingerie, how to find your fit, the difference between styles, fabric and care, and how to style lingerie for the bedroom, the club, or everyday confidence.
Why men wear lingerie
Men and masc-presenting people wear lingerie for the same reasons anyone does: sensuality, self-expression, play, and the simple pleasure of soft fabric against skin. Some wear it privately for the feeling. Others wear it openly, as part of a queer, kink or sex-positive wardrobe. Many wear it for partners, and many more for themselves. The FOD community includes cis gay and straight men, trans men, non-binary people, crossdressers, and anyone whose relationship with masculinity is an ongoing conversation.
The stigma around lingerie for men is recent, cultural, and shrinking. As brands like ours design specifically for male and non-binary anatomy — flat-chested bras, front-pouched thongs, harnesses sized beyond women's charts — the category is becoming accessible the way women's lingerie has been for a century.
The styles, explained
Thongs, strings and G-strings
The foundation of most men's lingerie wardrobes. A thong sits at the hips with a narrow strip of fabric at the back; a string is similar but with thinner sides; a G-string is the most minimal. Cut matters: pieces designed for masc bodies have a shaped front pouch that supports without flattening or spilling. Our Louis and Pascal styles are the places to start.
Men's bras and chest-wear
Bras designed for flat or trans-masc chests don't need cups — they use cage detailing, harness straps or soft lace panels to frame the chest rather than lift it. These pieces look striking solo, under a mesh top, or layered with a harness. Our Louis Bra uses custom lace from Rödermark, Germany and an adjustable cage-back.
Bodysuits
One piece, total coverage, instant statement. Look for snap closures at the crotch for practicality and a cut that accommodates a masc torso (longer in the rise, wider at the shoulders).
Harnesses and clubwear
Harnesses bridge lingerie and kink. Worn over bare skin or a shirt, they add structure and sex appeal. Clubwear pieces — cut-out tops, mesh shorts, strappy singlets — take lingerie codes into the dancefloor.
Boxers and shorts
If classic underwear is your comfort zone, lace-trimmed or mesh boxers are the gentlest way into lingerie. They read as underwear until someone looks closer.
How to find your fit
Two measurements matter most: your hips (around the widest part) and your chest or underbust (for bras and bodysuits). Men's lingerie sizing is not standardised, so always check the brand's size chart. At FOD we publish measurements in cm and inches for every piece. If you're between sizes, size up in cotton and down in stretch lace. For bras, prioritise underbust fit — the strap should sit snug without digging in.
First-timers: start with a thong or boxer in black. Easiest to wear, easiest to style, easiest to forget you're wearing it until you remember.
Fabric and care
Most of our lingerie is European lace — softer on the skin than the stiff nylon used in cheap mass-market pieces — blended with cotton for comfort and stretch fibres for fit. Hand-wash in cold water with gentle detergent, lay flat to dry, never tumble. Store flat or hanging, not crumpled. Treated well, a single piece lasts years.

FAQ
Is lingerie for men a new thing?
No. Lace, silk and decorative undergarments were standard in men's wardrobes from the Renaissance through the 19th century. The idea that lingerie is feminine is a modern, narrow invention.
Can straight men wear lingerie?
Of course. Wearing lingerie says nothing about your sexuality — only about how you want to feel. Our customers are gay, straight, bi, trans and everything in between.
What size should I order?
Check the size chart on each product page — we publish cm and inch measurements. If unsure, message us; we reply fast.
Do you ship discreetly?
Yes. All FOD orders ship in unbranded outer packaging.
Where is FOD made?
Designed and handmade in Vienna, Austria. Fabrics are sourced in Europe, including custom lace from Germany.
